The Golden Rule
It's not a suggestion, it's Divine Law.
The Golden Rule has always been written as:
“do unto others as you would have done unto yourself.”
That’s problematic because if you want to be abused and assaulted you’ll have no problem doing that to others. I know it’s supposed to be saying you should treat others well, but the wording doesn’t make that clear. We need to re-write it in the apophatic sense:
“don’t do unto others what you wouldn’t want done to you.”
So… if you don’t want to be assaulted for an act of free speech, don’t attack others for their speech, either. If you don’t want someone to rob you, don’t steal or condone others stealing for you. If you don’t want to be a slave to a corrupt system, stop supporting the system as a whole. Ultimately.. If you don’t want harm done to you, don’t harm others, and don’t condone it.
The Golden Rule is Natural Law. Abide by it, and we’ll create peace, prosperity and freedom. If we don’t, well… just look around. We’re a conscienceless species right now, believing in garbage like “government” which is the epitome of evil: slavery. We don’t care if something is right or wrong, we care whether it’s “legal” or “illegal” which is meaningless. We’re putting the arbitrary whims of people calling themselves “authority” above conscience.
We live enslaved by psychopaths because we’re so out of touch with principles and truth. We’re giving Natural Law the finger, and we’re getting the consequences. Want to change them? Start living by the Golden Rule. It doesn’t just apply to you and people around you, it applies universally. It requires Agapé Love which is True Care for all beings. You cannot be a selfish, self-centered person and live by that Law at the same time.
If you want freedom for you and your family and friends, you must also want freedom for those who you don’t know, don’t like, don’t agree with, or don’t look like you. Wanting them to be free is not the same thing as wanting to associate with them. You always have the right to disassociate from someone, but you do not have the right to impede upon their freedom to safeguard your own. That isn’t freedom at all.
That doesn’t mean allowing others to go around doing harmful things, it means leaving other people alone to exercise their Rights just as you want to be left alone to exercise yours. If someone is enacting harm (assault, murder, theft, etc) then that behavior must be stopped. We cannot, however, infringe upon someone’s freedom because we fear they MIGHT do such harm. Living in fear never leads to freedom, it leads to more and more chaos and control. We must deal with harmful behavior on an individual basis, not by squandering the rights and freedoms of entire groups in the name of fear.
Love is the state of being that leads to freedom. Not familial, romantic or brotherly love, but the Love of Truth, of Justice, of all consciousness. Agapé Love is what leads to growth, evolution, sovereignty and true freedom for all. It is the foundation of The Golden Rule. If we don’t live by it we will continue to suffer.
If we let Fear run our lives, all we’ll ever get is a world run by evil as it plays upon that fear with promises of “law and order” and “peace,” and enslaving us as a result. That’s the world we’re creating right now because of our ignorance, cowardice, and apathy. We are disconnected from Love, rooted in egotism, rigid skepticism, immediate sensate gratification, and obsessions with comfort and self-preservation, all of which are expressions of Fear. We do unto others what we don’t want done to ourselves all in the name of Fear.
Are we truly getting all the things we say we want as a result? Do we have freedom? Do we have peace and prosperity? Do we have Order? No. So, I’d say it’s time to change course. It’s time to get over the fear and reconnect with The Golden Rule – with Natural Law. We have to stop doing all the things we have no moral right to do, even if that means making some hard sacrifices.
Natural Law is the answer. It always has been. It’s what all spiritual traditions have taught when you get to their esoteric core. Even the Jesus story is about Natural Law. Jesus represents the Body in the trinity:
God / Father = Mind / Thought
Goddess / Holy Ghost = Spirit / Emotion
Child / Son = Body / Action
He represents Right Action in the world, or the embodiment of Conscience. Right livelihood and living by The Golden Rule / Natural Law is how we save ourselves. “Jesus saves” because Right Action saves – by respecting the rights and freedoms of all beings, and by stopping injustice when it needs to be stopped.
It’s such a simple solution, yet here we are. We’re so out of touch with truth. We’re out of touch with ourselves and with each other. Again, it all comes down to Fear, and it will lead us straight to a grave if we don’t turn things around.
Love isn’t all you need, but it is the foundation upon which we build anything that lasts. Without it, the Golden Rule is discarded and forgotten. Let’s bring it back out of the dirt, clean it off, and actually live by it this time.
